DIY STEPS TO MOD / CHANGE THE MICROSWITCHES:

1. PARTS NEEDED

NOTE: These are simply links for your convenience. Any 1.87 switches will work and any M3x16 Bolt Screws / M3 Nuts will be fine.

2. DRILLING OUT THE EXISTING SCREW

For safety considerations, it i recommend wearing eye protection and protective gloves to prevent any injuries when using power tools.

  • Wrap the button in a protective material and grasp it with a firm grip
  • Using an power drill, place a appropriately sized drill bit on the intended side of the circular tap lock on the metal switch mount
  • Drill slowly and increase speed as necessary until the drill bit has passed through the fastener

Tip: It will take some balance and patience, but drill into the hole until the rod falls out. You can change angles and speed as needed.

3. INSTALLING THE NEW SWITCHES
Using the hardware and switches you purchased, align the microswitch with the pin plunger vertically touching the button and each hole lined up to the metal mount. Placing the M3 Bolt Screw

  • Align the new switch to the metal mount where the pin plunger makes contact with the
  • Insert the M3 bolt screw through the hole on the metal mount and the switch
  • While holding the bolt screw in place, screw on the M3 nut with your hands.
TIP: Screw in both bolt screws and nuts before tightening with a tool.
  • Secure the button so that it will remain stable while tightening the hardware. Using a wrench/socket on one side and a screw driver on the other, carefully tighten the hardware until the switch is securely in place.

TIP: I find it easier to simply balance the screw in my hands while using a tool on both sides, but it is possible to place the button on a flat surface with a foam or cloth material so that you can use your other hands to tighten the hardware

COMPLETED MOD

COMPATIBLIITY CONSIDERATIONS:

*The switches are all .187" connectors (same size of most lever switches). With the exception of traditional American Style Arcade buttons, most fightstick buttons are .110" connectors. So you will need to wire these accordingly or purchase Female .187" to Male .110" conversion sets. You can also purchase these yourself here:
